Dr. Lisa Bernier is an educator and consultant with over 30 years of experience in K-12 through higher education. She is also a Board of Directors member and officer for several non-profit Christian organizations. Dr. Bernier holds a B.S. in Elementary Education from Grand Canyon University, an M.A.Ed. in Administration and Supervision from the University of Phoenix, and an Ed.D. Organizational Leadership with an Emphasis in Effective Schools from Grand Canyon University. Additionally, she has graduate study and certification in Special Education and Structured English Immersion. Her dissertation was entitled, “A Study of School Choice and Special Education in the 21st Century.”
Throughout her career, Dr. Bernier has been blessed to gain valuable experience in both teaching and administration and in the areas of general, ESL, and special education. In addition, she has been an active ACSI accreditation team chair and team member throughout the Rocky Mountain Region for over twelve years. These varied experiences have given her several lenses by which she can view unique school situations that may arise when trying to implement something new, whether it be curriculum, inclusion of students with special needs, or teacher training, etc. Dr. Bernier has had the distinctive opportunity to conduct teacher trainings and seminars for schools throughout the country of Indonesia regarding special education, inclusion, Christian parenting, and effective brain-based teaching methods. Annually, she takes a group of Grand Canyon University College of Education students to teach English in Christian schools there. Dr. Bernier presented the benefits of this type of school partnership model at the 2019 ACSI International Educational Leadership Conference in Budapest, Hungary. Currently, Dr. Bernier is an Assistant Professor of Education at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona, USA. She teaches special education, ESL, and Christian education courses, supervises student teachers and administrative interns, presents at conferences and helps develop program materials and curriculum. She lives in Phoenix, Arizona, USA, with her husband Mark and their cocker spaniel, Buddy. They have four adult children and four grandchildren.
