Geniuses

Why are there things in our work that we enjoy doing and others that frustrate us? Why do some projects get "stuck" and we cannot finish them? Why do we feel "genius" for some things and "clumsy" for others?

Patrick Lencioni, in his book "The 6 Types of Genius at Work," helps us discover what we are geniuses for and how we can harness that to benefit ourselves and others. The premise is that we all have unique talents that we put at the service of others.

Lencioni's model identifies six types of genius necessary to bring any project to fruition, and each possesses two geniuses.

Based on my brief description of these six capabilities, I invite you to discover two that you are a genius at, two that you can do competently but don't enjoy as much, and two that really frustrate you.

Ask (wonder): You naturally identify and wonder about the need for change or improvement.

Create (invention): You constantly generate original ideas and innovative solutions.

To Discern (discernment): Evaluate an idea's merits, determine if it can work, and how it can best be implemented.

Mobilize (galvanizing): Generates enthusiasm, engages, and follows up with people to implement an idea or solution.

Facilitate (enablement): Enjoys encouraging and "giving a hand" to carry out ideas and solutions.

Conclude (tenacity): Commits to completing what was set out and rest when the expected results have been obtained.

My geniuses are discerning and facilitating; as a consultant, I analyze solutions and help them to be implemented. I am competent in asking and creating, but mobilizing and concluding are my clients' tasks rather than my strengths.
What are your two geniuses?

Genialidad

Crear (invention): Está constantemente generando ideas originales y soluciones innovadoras.
